The artist has given the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor prize money to the MVT, which works to preserve the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

The star was awarded the prize on October 16 as his third album People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has opted to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages had in his initial steps.

"I personally wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the gigs I played around the region, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," said Sam Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts such as the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

He also participated, generating over £100k on his recent tour to support numerous grassroots venues across Britain.

The donation assisted venues that were confronting possible closure due to challenges caused by water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations received funding support in upgrading amenities and gear that helped musicians and fans.

"The notion that revenue from performances in large arenas supports the independent spots, where it begins for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has stated.

The musician is not the first artist to give his honor prize money to good deeds.

In they won the trophy in 1996 for their release Different Class, vocalist Cocker announced that the group would contribute their winnings to the organization the charity.

In 2002, artist Ms Dynamite divided her bounty between multiple good causes, like the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I donated a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed better apparatus," the artist shared with the media.

Previously, they donated their prize money to the youth organization that developed their group, as well as other local music groups.

Also 1994 winners M People gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.

"Winning was sufficient," stated singer Small. "The cash was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning touched somebody else's life."

Last week, the MVT announced it had rescued two local spots in that region, by placing them under local control.

One venue in that area and the second in that location were acquired under the public acquisition program, which is backed by Arts Council England and supporters who purchase "shares" in the venues.
